starts at 11:30 AM Friday at Trinity UMC in Denton
We will be doing a 30 hr famine and Cardboard Village with Faith UMC and Trinity UMC. The event will Start at 11:30AM Friday at Trinity UMC in Denton.
We will begin with a last meal together and then go over rules and hopes for the event.
We will then fast for 30 hours during which we will worship, play games, fellowship, and most importantly serve those less fortunate by raising awareness for hunger/poverty needs in Denton County.
Overnight we will be sleeping outdoors in Cardboard Structures that students will make during the event. Students are encouraged to bring a backpack with a change of clothes and a throw blanket.
Saturday there will be a call-a-thon and canned food collection to collect food donations - or, if desired, a financial gift instead. This means "yes, you can bring your phone" but it will only be able to be used at specific times.
Canned foods collected will go to the Lake Cities Food Pantry. Financial gifts will be divided between 4 Denton County outreaches: Denton Food Bank, Our Daily Bread, Lake Cities Food Bank, Lake Cities Community Aid Fund. We will end the event with a meal as well.
You can mark your attendance and spread the word thru Facebook.

As the economy continues to suffer, the need in our community for assistance becomes greater, and the Food Pantry is turned to for help more and more. Right now the food is flying off the shelves at an ever-increasing rate.
