Lake Cities Community Food Pantry

Lake Cities Food PantryProviding food and basic hygiene items to our neighbors in need...

What is the Lake Cities Community Food Pantry?

Our purpose is to provide basic food and hygiene items to our neighbors in the Lake Cities area.

Where is the Food Pantry located?

The Food Pantry is housed in the Lake Cities United Methodist Church’s main building at 300 East Hundley in Lake Dallas. The entrance is on the south side of the building under the drive-through drop off area.

Who can use the Food Pantry?

Clients of the Lake Cities Food Pantry provide the following documents at the time of application and at each visit:

  1. Proof of residency in Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, or Shady Shores and

  2. Current valid photo identification

The pantry serves clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Clients can visit once a month and receive four bags of non-perishable food items as well as fresh milk, eggs, bread, and meat as is available.

Where does the food come from?

We are a member agency of the North Texas Food Bank and are able to acquire food from the NTFB for a nominal handling fee. Like any food bank, the NTFB can provide only what happens to be available, so groceries are purchased to fill gaps in the shelves. Fresh milk, eggs, and basic hygiene items are provided to our clients as well when available. Panera Bread in Denton donates any remaining inventory. Target and Pizza Hut donate harvested items regularly. Several area churches donate food items periodically and local food drives designate their collected items to us. Monetary donations come from local businesses, philanthropic organizations, and individuals.

How can my organization help the Lake Cities Community Food Pantry?

Non-perishable food items are a simple and direct way to help the Food Pantry. Hygiene items and diapers are always appreciated. Monetary donations should be directed to the Lake Cities United Methodist Church designated for the Food Pantry. Volunteer opportunities are always available.
