5 Areas of Youth Ministry

Participation in Worship

Intergenerational worship participation is the #1 factor that helps students keep the faith as they grow from High School, through college, and into adulthood. Therefore, it is essential that we provide a worship environment that students feel a part of. At Lake Cities UMC we have a number of opportunities for students to be involved in worship beyond the standard singing along, praying, and listening from the pew.

Fellowship Opportunities

The primary focus of our Wednesday Night program is Fellowship — that means the main goal is to have fun and make new friends. We begin with a meal together at 5:30 p.m. and then do any number of activities that help us get to know ourselves, friends, and God a little better while laughing as much as we can along the way. We finish up at 7:30 p.m. so you will have plenty of time to prepare for the next school day.

Leadership Opportunities

As Christians, we are called to lead. However, there are a number of different ways that can look. We will help students develop as leaders both through learning and experience.

Learning Opportunities

It is important for students to have the opportunity to learn as much as they would like about the bible and their Christian faith. Learning is essential to the development of young people into Disciples of Christ. Our primary opportunity for learning is Sunday School. However, if a student feels the need for a deeper level of learning, we can customize opportunities for them.

Service Opportunities

Jesus washed the Disciples feet as an example for how we are to humble ourselves and serve others. Service opportunities at Lake Cities UMC will challenge students to do the work of a disciple, by participating in the transformation of the world. This happens at Mission Camp as well as more local opportunities to transform someone or something.

1 John 4:16

So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
