Meet Your New Pastor!

Meet Rev. Tim Clifford, who will be your new pastor effective July 1st!

Rev. Tim Clifford grew up in Arlington, Texas attending St. Barnabas UMC throughout his childhood and adolescence. He felt a call to ministry early in life after a powerful experience during his confirmation retreat. Luckily, his church offered him ample opportunity to explore that call, including letting him preach to the whole congregation year and year starting at 14!

Rev. Tim graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2018 with a BA in Religious Studies, where he spent his time serving in the Wesley Foundation and on the drum line of The Mustang Band. He earned a Masters of Divinity in 2021 from Perkins School of Theology. His education continues today as he pursues a ThD in Open and Relational Theology with Thomas Oord at Northwind Theological Seminary. Rev. Tim has been working in ministry contexts since 2016, and was ordained an Elder in The United Methodist Church in 2025. He has served many kinds of United Methodist Churches, and loves to create powerful and meaningful worship experiences across contexts. Rev. Tim’s greatest love in ministry is preaching and teaching. He is especially passionate about bringing the “ivory tower” theology to the church house.

Rev. Tim and his wife, Katie, met as youth at St. Barnabas when they were members of the youth praise band together. Katie is a non-profit professional and currently works as the Vice President of Development at Project Transformation National, a United Methodist ministry. They have two cats, Daisy and Dandy, who are generally the ones really in control. When not at church, you can often catch Tim on a bicycle or running as he trains for triathlons, and you can find Katie engaging one of her many creative and artistic pursuits
